NATIONAL
HEALTHCARE FIRM
Situational Background
A leading healthcare firm planned to replace its existing telephony platform with a Cisco Unified Communications platform. After a partial deployment, the organization experienced poor user adoption and technical issues with the migration. As a result, the organization wanted to develop a formal migration strategy for the remaining sites.
Business Challenges
As with any large technology deployment, the project involved representatives from numerous third parties and contractors; in order for the migration to be successful, all parties needed to collaborate and work together towards a common goal. Additionally, the organization needed to implement change management to increase user adoption.
Approach and Solution
Maron Structure Technologies started by performing a series of interviews with representatives from different departments. These interviews were designed to uncover communication requirements as well as concerns and issues. Interviews were performed with individuals who participated in the original deployment as well as individuals who would be affected by future deployments.
After the interviews were conducted, Maron Structure Technologies developed a strategy document that focused on a few main points. First, Maron Structure Technologies presented the organization with a study that compared a flash-cut migration against a phased migration. Both scenarios had benefits and risks, which were described in the study. Maron Structure Technologies also commented on a training program to increase user adoption and eliminate day-one issues related to user error. Finally, the strategy document included several recommendations for migration strategies that addressed technical and configuration issues that arise when migrating from one telephony platform to another.
Technical Specifics
As a high-level overview the future-state communication platform consisted of:
- Cisco Unified CallManager Platform (Clustered Environment)
- Cisco Unified Unity Messaging Platform
- Cisco Unified Mobility
Business Outcome
The healthcare firm used the strategy document as a playbook for future deployments and did not experience the issues it had with the initial deployment.
Value Proposition
Maron Structure Technologies believes in providing clients unbiased and vendor neutral technology recommendations, utilizing technology that supports existing business needs and positions the organization to leverage future applications.
